How it works

When a document is stamped, a certificate is issued, or a file is registered, DocuTools records a digital fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the file, never the file itself. Checking a file compares its fingerprint with our records. Any change, even re-saving or printing to PDF, produces a different fingerprint.

A match proves the file is exactly what was recorded and when. Issuer names are set by the account owner and are not independently checked. A match does not certify who wrote the file or that its contents are true or legally valid.
